MorrowStep is operated by Georgian Software Systems LLC, a company registered in Georgia. We are responsible for how we use the personal information described in this policy.
This policy covers MorrowStep, its optional iCloud backup, trial time checks and the MorrowStep policy page on gss.ge. You do not need a MorrowStep account. If you have a privacy question, email support.morrowstep@gmail.com.
What’s saved on your iPhone
MorrowStep saves your alarm settings and names, the text or number in your saved barcode or QR code, and the photo captured when you save a new barcode. It also keeps records needed to manage alarms, unfinished wake ups and your access to the app.
Barcode scanning happens on your iPhone. The scanner and trial time check do not send us your saved alarm names, barcode text or photos.
Using your camera
With your permission, MorrowStep uses the camera to set up or check a barcode, or scan it to finish an alarm.
When you confirm a new barcode, the app saves a photo from the first scan so you can recognise it later. The photo is stored in the app, outside your Photos library. If you choose iCloud Backup, a copy is also included in that backup. Checking a saved barcode or scanning to finish an alarm does not save another photo. The scanner does not save video.
You can change camera access in iOS Settings. MorrowStep needs that permission to scan barcodes.
Optional iCloud backup
In versions that offer iCloud Backup, the feature is optional. MorrowStep uploads backup content only after you choose to turn it on. The backup contains saved barcode values, names, photos and confirmation status; alarm names, times, repeat days and barcode assignments; Quick alarm durations, modes and clock settings; and your app language.
After you give consent and complete the first backup, relevant changes back up automatically when the app can connect. You can also choose Back Up Now. The app keeps a dated history of the latest 10 successful backups; older backups are removed as newer successful backups take their place. A failed attempt is not a successful backup.
The backup uses Apple’s CloudKit service and is stored in the private database for your Apple Account. You can restore it on an iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account. You do not need a MorrowStep account. The backup feature does not send its content to a server operated by us or use it for advertising or tracking.
You choose which dated backup to restore. Restoring adds missing saved configurations with restored alarms turned off; it does not replace your existing local data and preserves any language you have explicitly chosen in the app. Backups do not include wake-up history, diagnostic records, running alarm state, or trial and purchase records. Restoring does not synchronise running alarms, start a trial, restore a purchase or turn on automatic backup.
Checking your free trial
MorrowStep uses the original app download date supplied by Apple to work out when your seven-day trial ends. During the trial, the app checks the current time with Google Public NTP, Google’s public time service. You do not need a Google account.
You need an internet connection to set, change or turn on alarms during the trial. Your trial keeps counting down while you are offline. If you lose your connection after setting an alarm, you can still finish it by scanning or using Emergency Stop.
These trial time checks are not required when you have an active subscription or lifetime access. Purchasing or restoring access may still need an internet connection.
The time request includes a new random value so the app can match the reply to that check. It does not include your saved alarm names, barcode text, photos or purchase information. Google receives your IP address when your device connects.
Google says it keeps temporary logs with full IP addresses to investigate problems, improve the service and detect attacks, and deletes those logs within 30 days. It says it does not combine those logs with personal information you provide to other Google services. MorrowStep does not receive these logs. Read Google Public NTP’s privacy information for details.
Information for people using older test versions
Some older test versions use our previous online time service instead of Google Public NTP. That service is hosted separately from gss.ge through OpenAI’s Sites service, using Cloudflare infrastructure. It does not save requests in an app database. These providers process connection information, such as IP addresses and request details, to run and protect the service. They may keep connection and security logs separately from the data saved by MorrowStep.
The app uses information saved on your iPhone to run the alarms you set, recognise your barcode and check your access. The online trial check obtains the current time so changing your phone’s date does not restart or extend your trial.
We use information you send us to answer your questions, investigate problems and handle privacy requests. We may also need to retain relevant information to meet a legal obligation or deal with an active dispute. We do not receive your on-device alarm records simply because you use the app.
Apple and Google process the information described in this policy under their own applicable terms and policies. Their services may process information outside your country. Contact us if you need more information about how your information is handled.
Apple services and purchases
MorrowStep shares alarm settings and the identifiers needed to manage your alarms with Apple’s alarm service. Apple controls how system alarms appear and work on your iPhone and supported Apple Watch. You can change alarm permission in iOS Settings.
Apple handles App Store payments. MorrowStep uses purchase information and the original app download date supplied by Apple to check your free trial, subscription or lifetime access. We do not receive your full card details.
Apple’s privacy policy covers its services, including diagnostics or backups you choose to share or enable.
When you email us
We receive your email address, message and any attachments. We use them to answer your question and investigate the issue. Our support email uses Google’s Gmail service.
Please do not send your saved barcode or QR code, passwords, card details or unrelated personal information. If you send a screenshot, hide anything that is not needed to explain the problem.
We delete our copies of support emails and attachments from our mailbox within 90 days after your issue is resolved. We may keep relevant messages longer if a legal obligation or an active dispute requires it.
Deleting our copies does not remove messages from your mailbox. Google may retain backup copies or other records under its own data retention policy.
Technical reports you choose to share
Some test versions of MorrowStep let you share a technical report to help us investigate a problem. These reports contain recent technical events, such as times, alarm states and errors. The report stays on your iPhone unless you choose to share it. You can review it before sending it.
If you email a report to us, we use it to investigate your issue and handle it under the same retention rule as other support attachments. Copies you save or share elsewhere are controlled by you and the service you choose.
Keeping and deleting your information
Some past alarm and barcode records may remain on your iPhone after you turn off, finish, edit or delete an alarm. Removing an item from a list does not always erase all of its earlier records.
Deleting MorrowStep removes the data in its app folder. Offloading the app keeps that data. Deleting the app does not delete backups made through MorrowStep’s iCloud Backup feature. Turning off automatic backups stops future automatic uploads and keeps the backups already in iCloud.
Changing or deleting a barcode or alarm on your iPhone does not remove its copies from earlier backups. Those copies can remain until the older backups are removed by the latest-10 retention limit or you delete the iCloud backups.
To delete all backup content, open MorrowStep → Settings → iCloud Backup → Backup options → Delete All iCloud Backups, then confirm Delete All Backups. This also turns off automatic backups. Your local barcodes, photos and alarms stay on your iPhone. Backup content can no longer be restored after deletion; small records without barcode, photo or alarm content may remain to prevent interrupted uploads from recreating it.
Finish or turn off your alarms before deleting the app. Apple manages device backups and purchase records separately through its own settings and services.
We cannot remotely delete information stored only on your device. Email us about information you have sent us, or if you need help with deletion options.
This privacy-policy page
This page on gss.ge does not track visitors or collect personal information. It does not use advertising trackers, analytics or data-entry forms.
Email links open your email app. If you choose to email us, we handle your message as described under “When you email us.” Links to other websites open services with their own privacy practices.
This page is separate from the app’s Google time checks, optional iCloud backup and Apple purchase services described above.
Your privacy choices and rights
Email support.morrowstep@gmail.com to ask what personal information we hold about you, request a copy, or ask us to correct or delete it. You do not need to use legal language.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also be able to ask us to limit how we use your information, object to certain uses, or receive information in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it. This does not change the lawfulness of earlier use.
We may ask for enough information to confirm that a request is yours. Please do not send passwords, payment details or your saved barcode. We respond within the time required by the law that applies to your request. The 90-day support-email retention period is not a waiting period for privacy requests.
